Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Ladder slashing for both Marines and Xenos should be legitimate. If you can look up/down you should be able to slash without any problem or grab people from up there to get them down when they are on the floor.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It would help both Marines and Xeno, they would not have to expose themselves to that big of a danger, not to mention avoid the ladder camping and constant nading of the bottom. You can look up, not sure if you can look down though.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Just as it was announced as bug it should be announced as legitimate thing.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): It is already inside.

hurts the unwary, promotes knife utility, both sides can fight although more advanced xeno would be terrifying.

lmao, no. i'd just pointblank SADAR everything and then soak in the alien salt, not to mention the epic "realism" argument - the other deck is too high for a xeno to grab and pull somebody down let alone slash.

The problem with this is that it just promotes ladder camping for whoever gets to look down/up the ladder first, for instance say a xeno gets to a ladder first and decides to look up and sees a marine coming, that marine will never stand a chance of getting down to the other z-level let alone try to peek down.


On another note generally this makes ladder camping worse then it was before as you wouldn't be able to harm said attacker unless you went up onto their z-level (Of course you can compare that to marines being able to chuck a grenade down, but grenades usually run out fairly fast, where as a knife or machete won't run out, hence camping that ladder), but everytime you got near the ladder to go up and attack the enemy you would be delayed first of all by the ladder activation travelling time (which allows them to hit you more), of course as a marine you could always chuck a grenade down but 9 times out of 10 a xeno will run back and then come back when it's exploded and i don't see how a xeno is going to counter this at all besides 'tanking' the damage in hopes to get up and break through their lines.

well, a xeno can survive a machete hit, a marine that's getting tackled down by one alien and hit by another ancient one is not going to live through that.

You know xenos greatly excel matines in meele.
So this is just a xeno buff masked as a buff to booth sides, which it isn't. So yeah, with the current (un)balance, no. -1

Denied. We can't do this right now for technical reasons. Mobs interacting over multiple zlevels can have all sorts of unintended consequences. We can maybe revisit this if ever get multiple z level support.
