Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
The new sprites for weed and resin look nicer under some circumstances, but there's the problem of telling them apart from dark/obstructed tiles, especially on lower-quality monitors. Making them lighter is a quick, easy way to fix this.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Makes it easier to tell between weeded and dark/obstructed tiles. Less confusion for new players.

I do have to say, and I am not sure if it has something to do with this suggestion, that my eyes do not like they way the weeds tiles ends. With that I mean like if there would be a 'sand' tile next to a 'weed' tile it looks a bit weird....comparing this with the older and more transparant weeds it was much nicer. But that's just my opinion.
