Alien Nicknames

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Quite simple really, allow people to set an Alien Nickname in the setup screen, up to five letters, that replaces their number. If no name is set, use the numbers as usual.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): give aliens distinction between rounds, for awesome things they did, for screw-ups they made, and it's easier to call out their nickname instead of 823, need help. Numbers aren't that easily distinguished in the chat when everyone has a number, and will be asking other numbers to do things too. You managed to singlehandedly cripple the marines on the Sulaco as a drone? Turn the tide as Queen? You expected fame? Nope. You're anonymous. Deal with it. No more, let Aliens be recognised. Not only that, but it'll make it easier for Admins investigating Xeno rule breaches, where a nickname stands out.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): As stated above.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I believe it would use similar code to that of a Predator name, except it would have something extra like

If alienname = unset, make -insert random number here-

(As you may possibly tell, I know jack shit about coding.)

Found the original topic/thread from a while back (last year) and well as you have said it was met with alot of negativity, however in Abby's last update alien post thread she said that (1st paragraph) nicknames were a choice out of the other 3 options, so i'm not too sure if this is planned to be added at some point to help dedicated xeno players become more recognised in the community or if what Abby had planned was just a nickname for that round sort of thing.

Either way I'll +1 this suggestion as generally alien players don't get enough OOC recognition as they deserve to help them get better involved in the community.

We definitely need this. People recognizing you and how you act ingame is a huge part of staff and predator apps, and people who mostly/only play Alien cannot often be recognized as you have no idea who any alien is except the queen who is revealed at round end and is then often not read anyway. A nickname system would make it easier for alien players to get actions attributed to them for various things. +1 all my yes
