Colonial Marines Character:
Ezra Hegarty
Age:
24
Gender:
Male
Timezone:
Eastern Standard (GMT -5).
On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
I usually spend a lot of time playing CM. I understand that the moderator position requires one to be an observer so I'll say around 2 hours a day so 14 hours a week.
Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
Unfortunately none, if my application is denied for this reason then I understand. I'm willing to learn how to use moderator tools and I learn quick.
Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
I started playing around June. I created my forum account a couple days after I started playing.
What other servers do you play on?
I haven't been on SS13 for a long time. I played on Facepunch SS13 around 3 years back. You can still find my old posts on their forums, kinda embarrassing to be honest.
What are the 3 biggest servers you play on besides CM?
Only Facepunch SS13 and CM. I played on Goon servers 3 years back too.
Have you had an application to Colonial Marines before?
None.
Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where?
n/a
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?
I've been banned once for EORG but that was on my second or third day playing on the server.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on ANY server? If so, where and When (roughly)?
None. Although I do recall being banned once on another server for making a dead man's switch with a pAI while I was not a traitor. I was choked to death while in the brig by a baldie sec officer and my pAI decided to blow my bombs up which resulted in my ban.
Are you familiar with Slack (It's use is required)?
Not familiar with it but I'm assuming its a communication program for the admins.
Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.[/b]
1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.
Depending on the situation. It may be an accidental discharge. If he is in his underwear and purposely firing on other marines then I'd check notes and message the shooter to ask him why he's shooting. Freezing him may be necessary. If he is in a full kit and shooting other marines then I'd message him and ask him why he is shooting in the briefing area. If there is no reply then I'm going to assume he is new and griefing. If it is for an RP reason, I'd have to check if there was proper escalation in accordance to the rules. If there were many marines harmed then it would seem like a clear case of griefing. Depending on the severity of the situation would result in a ban length accordingly.
2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.
Sealing the breach would be my first priority. Finding the cause of the breach would be my next move. To determine whether or not it was accidental gunfire that broke the window or an alien that broke it tactically. Freezing players may be necessary and fixing atmos after the breach has been sealed would be my follow up to this situation. An alien purposely breaching would result in a ban accordingly.
3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.
Nope. Nuke codes are only for head admins.
4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.
I would need to find which Marine threw the grenade and his reason. PMing the Researcher is necessary as he needs to be careful who he hands his grenades to. Once the marine is found, I'll PM him and ask him why he threw the grenade. Depending on his response, I would have to check what damages were caused, his notes and issue a ban for griefing accordingly if that is determined. It may have been an accident as unlikely as it is.
5. A played is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.
I would tell him to stop messaging and warn him that further messages would result in a temporary ban with a note on his record.
6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.
I would have to message the player and inform him that his name doesn't fit the naming rules and would need to be changed after the current round to something else of his choosing.
6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
Rules are rules and it must be changed. If he doesn't change it then I could suggest an alternative for him. Assuming admins can change other player's names on the server.
7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.
Check if the Doctor is in immediate danger. If not inform the Doctor that he is not allowed to have an M41A rifle unless his life is in immediate danger, he needs to drop the weapon immediately and he should go return to his duties at medbay.
8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
Inform the medic that he is not allowed to perform surgery under no circumstances. He should have Command send a doctor down instead.
9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
A MOTHER bioscan report would encourage Marines to attack the planet. Alternately if there is a Liason active, give the Liason a mission to strong arm the Commander into attacking with his forces using loyalty implants if necessary. I would message the Commander, once he is implanted, that he is owned by WY and must follow the Liason's orders. If that fails, I think the scan should be able to do it though. While a long process with the Liason, I believe it to be the most fun for both parties, Aliens are able to recuperate while Marines are forced to attack by WY. I'll inform dead chat that I'll be doing such so they can be entertained while waiting for the round to end.
10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.
As I've experienced first hand, delaying the round would be necessary. If that marine has killed anyone or shot anyone to crit then I'd have to issue a ban accordingly.
11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.
While hilarious, it would depend on the situation. If the round has just started then its not against the rules. If the Marine is purposely throwing soap on everyone while ignoring orders then I'll have to send him a message telling him to stop. I'll need to determine if he is doing it purposefully to grief or its just a beginning of the round thing.
12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
I'll need to determine if both parties followed the correct procedures for escalation to lethals. If the marine had punched him, then did he punch back first or just outright shot him to death. If it wasn't following the correct escalation procedures then I'll have to issue a warning or a ban if there were previous notes on his record regarding situations like this.
Any additional information you'd like to add?
I know I'm still fairly new but I generally play when there are no admins online. Usually around early morning. I'm interested in interacting with the CL, responding to faxes and issuing objectives accordingly. I know that the privilege of doing so comes with moderator duties and I'm willing to undertake them for that privilege. Should anyone have any problems with that then I'll not have any qualms against my application being denied as such.

Re: Warnipple - Moderator Application
I've seen you around quite alot. But i will look though your answers and pick out and talk about some.
3.
You're right about not handing the codes out but i would recommend making a MOTHER or USCM report stating that the codes are denied and for the marines to do their job!
4.
Napalm grenades are not banned anymore. But the marine who threw it is in big trouble!
10.
What i know this is how it should work
>Damage log appears
>Ban
You should not delay the round as you can ban the person at the lobby screen. If you want you can pm them saying to read the rules during the ban period.
Thats about it. I hope that you do get the position! Good luck!

The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.
