Kha'rauta R'ka (Playful Fire)
Byond ID: Doodeeda
Marine Name (so we know who you are, if you play alien mostly, state that here): Bruce Mcmullen. I play alien frequently also but I have little playtime with hivelord, crusher, and boiler.
Name of the character you want whitelisted (The name your predator will use. This must match your in-game predator name): Kha'rauta R'ka
Are you familiar with the Predator Code Of Honor? Yes! I recognize most of it as I like to read the AVP Wikia.
Character background (A very BRIEF description of your predators background):
Overlooked due to its more boisterous peers, thought not to have a prestigious future, the often lonely pup soon made up its own games and played by itself. Growing up, it learned it was most happy when in the process of pulling off a clever trick or devising a scenario it could act out. The young Yautja was up to its antics in the dark when it heard a snarl. Its mandibles flared once spotting the source of the sound: a hulking bully overshadowing a cowering suckling. At once, the angered Yautja stopped its game in order to rush to the scene, and two young Yautjas were given a beating instead of one. This show of ferocity led the pup to be dubbed Kha'rauta R'ka, and the once-ignored Yautja reveled in the attention and vowed to always live up to its name.
Doubt and pain could be felt all over. Kha'rauta R'ka adjusted his Bio-Mask again, and he wondered if his opponent could pick up that he was nervous through the movement. Broken rubble in the center of the pyramid chamber separated the serpent and the unblooded allowing for a lull in the fight. Kha'rauta R'ka knew he should be developing a plan of attack, but he could only wonder if he was to die this fight. Did he toy with his prey too much? Did the hard-meat become stronger as it grew more desperate? Due to his training, the limping Yautja subconsciously raised his arm up diagonally and the wristblades glinted in the air. Suddenly, the serpent leaped over the rubble in a last-ditch attempt to kill the trespasser, and Kha'rauta R'ka, his thoughts forgotten, sidestepped and brought his blades down on the head of his foe. His prey slain, the proven hunter felt something unworldly coursing through his bloodstream. No other Yautja could ever experience anything similar for Kha'rauta R'ka fought his own way, the way he adopted as a pup.
How do you intend to play your predator (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your predator. This will weigh HEAVILY and frequently breaking from this MAY result in removal)?
I hope my story can show you a glimpse of how I'll play my predator! Due to his past, I will be wary of making friends but I won't strive to be a complete loner. I have to get to know characters in order to be completely comfortable with them and see if they are someone Kha'rauta R'ka will like. My predator is fiercely loyal to those who are honorable and just and is angered when seeing something unfair or unjust. I'll use custom emotes and sounds well and I've already created a mannerism in my story (adjusting mask). I will avoid being buddy buddy with any non-predator unless something extreme leads to that. I will also be fair and try to mainly stick to simple weapons like the wristblades and melee (but I'm extremely curious so I may test out everything at one point or another unless that's not acceptable. I'll ask lots of questions in a predator chat or something if you guys have that.). A brawler of sorts (from what I've read). As a predator, I dislike the idea of murderboning and taking lots of people out of the round and not letting them enjoy further fun. If possible, I would only like to kill players that have made it clear they want to kill me and thus willing to be killed by a predator. If the prey I choose to be worthy obviously wants to continue on his round without a predator interfering, I'll choose someone else that's worthy (if that's acceptable). In order to spice up the round with my presence and make things enjoyable for people, I will live up to my name (Playful) and do creepy things or scare people and make them fear for their life. I think I will like traps. In terms of game/side balance, I'll adopt whatever mindset the Elders want me to OOCly and ICly (keep it even, target this side more, etc.) I don't have a preference on who to target. Kha'rauta R'ka can outsmart and fight whatever prey. I also want to be more personable than just an Unknown if that's alright with a worthy foe. Reveal my name through an emote/roar or take off the mask? That way they can know who they fought/interacted with to keep RP smooth throughout the round.
Why should we whitelist you? I'm creative, and I'll constantly think of new ways to make the round interesting other than just duels and fighting (which are necessary, some people want that and those are the people I'll aim for). I love the science fiction, and the idea of the Predator. I want to uphold that image and keep it right. I've also played SS13 for many years and I know much of the mechanics and tricks and have plenty of experience RPing. I can switch personas very well which was necessary when I mained security, played Perseus, played silly assistant, and was an admin at LS13. I'm pretty active on CM as it is the only server I play on now, and I want to have a higher involvement and improve the server with me being here so I worked up the courage to make this app (Wanted to try being predator ever since it came out). I haven't been predator before but I've observed predators a lot, so I'll still be a little new to the whole thing. If you'll take me, I hope you won't mind me learning the ropes.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?
No. I try to be cooperative with staff as much as possible whenever they talk to me.
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?
I do not believe so.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor?
Of course. I'm glad it's like that; the rules and the code should be taken seriously.

Re: Kha'rauta R'ka (Playful Fire)
I think there is another R'ka, not entirely sure or not. Well, the application wasn't bad, but what catches me is the forum activity? You've been around for almost a year, with only 34 posts. I recognize the key somewhat, but just becoming a mentor now is probably the most i've seen of you ever. Going neutral, leaning towards -1.

Re: Kha'rauta R'ka (Playful Fire)
Unfortunately I only post when I feel it is necessary, but I've read a lot of what is up on the forums and I constantly check for anything new and interesting. Not sure how I could prove that, but I hope my ingame activity shows that I'm not on the forums purely to make a predator app. I really appreciate the reply, thanks. First one!!

you've got my +1. Good story, good player, good all around person for the community. I think they'd be able to handle the role.

This is a good application all around. As Lordekilly posted, I'm honestly not all that familiar with you aside from you becoming a mentor. I've seen Bruce in game a few times, but honestly would like to see more forum activity from you. Neutral for now.

Thanks so much for the input /n. I've been refreshing the pred application forum, and I saw you browsing the forum a couple of times. Was hoping you would comment on mine :P

Re: Kha'rauta R'ka (Playful Fire)
Forum activity is a big part of deciding on an application. Nevertheless, I'll ignore that for a minute and list the good sides.
1. You're staff, most importantly, meaning you are qualified for a responsible position while holding a large amount of power.
2. The story. It's a good portrayal of a fight, and it's been properly spellchecked, which isn't all that common in applications.
3. Rounding it off, the times I HAVE seen you in game, you're a good player. That's about it.
Forum activity is still something you need, but for the above points you're still a good contender to be accepted. Neutral, leaning to +1. Forum activity is a must.

Thanks a lot for the words, Boltersam. I like to be active on the forum, so I'm hoping it won't be an issue in the future!

Re: Kha'rauta R'ka (Playful Fire)
Solid application, the back story was short and effective. I've seen you around in game a few times, that could be most likely due to my awkward play hours. While I've never directly seen, or heard bad stuff about you I don't think I've played with you as a marine recently. As said previously you are staff so your responsibility isn't in question. I'm neutral leaning towards a +1

Re: Kha'rauta R'ka (Playful Fire)
My play hours are pretty awkward as well in that they're all over the place. I believe we talked ingame at about 4 AM my time? Haha, but at least I get to meet everyone that way. Thanks for taking the time to read my application and make a comment Zsk
Also, I've noticed my being in staff mentioned a lot. I haven't been a mentor for very long, and I don't hold a lot of power. I believe I should be judged based on how I am as a player and a person. My position on staff shouldn't hold too much weight on this application.

Re: Kha'rauta R'ka (Playful Fire)
I don't really have a problem with you in general, I'm a bit unfamiliar with you, but my interactions with you were pretty good. One of the big selling points that got me is that you said you'd learn, compared to the others that's a VERY GOOD THING. I prefer to see someone that says he'll do his best and adapt to someone that says he knows and don't need to learn more.
Some elements of your app made me a bit less enthousiast, like switching target, but that's not really bad in general. If the prey can't be considered prey it just can't. +1, do please be cautious and wait for an elder's presence if you're accepted though, personal advice.

CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Thanks for the advice and words Sarah! I appreciate you checking and commenting on all the pred apps. It means a lot that you take the time to review applications instead of playing since you're not obligated to as a newly-whitelisted Pred (to my knowledge).

Re: Kha'rauta R'ka (Playful Fire)
Hmm, I've got this idea floating around in my head. If I do get whitelisted, perhaps I could document every round I play as a predator in a forum thread somewhere. I'd list off anything interesting that happened and comment on my actions and what I hoped to accomplish. I think that would help in removing some of this us vs. them mentality; we're all players of the same server after all. It'd also give examples of how a Predator could make beneficial contributions to a round, and hopefully people will get excited to play more CM.

The Art and Stories section is perfect for this, but with regarding tools, it's best not to go into the mechanics of how they actually work ingame.doodeeda wrote:Hmm, I've got this idea floating around in my head.
