Guide to lodging

Post by Sarah_U. » 28 Jul 2016, 15:35

A lodge is a temporary safe heaven.
Protected by fearless hunters and sometime slaves, these locations generally host a few goodies along with their protector's items.

As a predator, you should always think of the lodging as a place away from the main fighting paths. The temple on LV-624 is fine due to being on the side (And yautja's property), but that's generally an exception.
Lodging should be done with the following features, those marked with a star only recommended:
  • *Individual Bedrooms.
It's a feature that can easely be replaced by a dorminatory. Furthermore, there's not much use to make individual rooms.
  • Elder' Room.
The Elders are very important figures to your clan. Giving them their own rooms is a good way to show your admiration and respect toward their skills. Furthermore, they can sometime require some AFKing so it's good to have a place for them to stay in while it happens.
  • *Trophy Room.
This is generally very important, but trophies can be transfered to the ship. Now the reason why I recommend having one is simple... Going up and returning to the lodge just guarentee you'll get trouble, so it's better to have a place to store trophies for later transfer.
  • *Kitchen.
It's not needed, but you're not smart if you think you won't have to eat once or twice... Or that your slaves won't go crazy if they haven't eaten for several hours. Furthermore it's a great place for the slaves to get some roleplay and work going. Even a stealthy way for them to grab a knife and try to stab you- But what's the issue with that? Everyone love to put a slave back in its place with a little fight, eh?
  • *Armory.
I highly recommend this if you have the space. Simply put... You don't want to let excess weaponry hanging around and you want to collect melee weapon for fights, duels, arenas, etc...
  • Slave Dorminatory/Pen.
Your slaves need a place to be put into. A living quarter of sort where they either sleep on the ground or with some charity on a bed. Remember though, the more violent you've been with your slaves, the most chances you'll have they'll struggle and try to get out, so don't leave them in that pen with only the floor to look at and their upcoming fear of what's happening rising up.
  • *Slave Medbay.
You personally can't quite perform surgery... But your slaves might appreciate not dying from blood loss once in a while. True its best to give them an honourable death, but if they're asking for your help and they've proven worthy, why not let the other slaves patch them up in a decent environment?
  • *Recreation Room (Mostly a slave thing).
So you heard slaves get borred in their pen and don't know what to do. For starter, you're not working them out enough. For later, giving them a few means to distract themselves wouldn't hurt, especially when the elder comes around asking you not to kill them as they rebell. So if you're wondering what the slaves want to play with... Well ask them or make your own decisions... I'm sure they like crafting weapons with some materials or boxing (with gloves) no?
  • *Arena.
Here's your most interesting piece of work. The arena: Generally linked to the slave pen and a secondary access, with some means to observe the fight without hindering it. You generally avoid placing ANY slaves inside of it simply due to teh fact you don't want to loose good slaves. Although, you do place the excess and challengers in here when needs arise. Don't forget to give a small bonus to the survivor, it's always nice to respect the good fighters.

So in short, more features are obviously present, but those are a few that will make your lodge shine and give ample roleplay and organization.
If you want to make those features you'll obviously need a list of things to get, and here's a very good example of what you seek early on:
  • Crowbar.
  • Plasma Cutter.
  • If previous unavailable, Pickaxe.
  • Wrench.
  • Some lightsources would be nice (Lantern / Flashlight).
  • A few traps.
  • Food, always get some when you have time and free space.
  • Some containers or backpacks.
  • Any extra toolbox, toolbelt, tools or useful objects in that category.
  • A ton of materials; Metal, sandstone, glass (+reinforced), metal rods and wood. You'll need a lot, but only take the plasteel if you want to go fancy.
  • Any extras along the way you might find interesting; Vendors, powercells, weapons, armor, hydroponic trays, etc. (If you have the time and space).
  • A safe location for that lodge, away from most problems and usually in a place where marines and aliens will leave you alone untill you piss them off to extremes.

So I hope this helps you get some ideas, opinions and basics for lodging. Clearly there's more that can be added, but that's generally most of it.
I wish you a nice day, thank you very much for reading and remember: Safe hunting.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.
