Rail Flashlights need to be flare quality

Post by Warnipple » 01 Aug 2016, 04:34

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Upgrade rail flashlights brightness so it is the same as putting a flare on your armour slot.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Rail flashlights already don't see much use and the rail attachment slot is arguably the strongest slot for a weapon (mag harness, quickfire, red dot etc). Rail flashlights could use an upgrade so they see more use.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
If you had a rail flashlight on your weapon, naturally it would help you aim in the dark right? So we upgrade the rail flashlight to have the same brightness as a flare when in the hands of a marine. Alternatively allow rail flashlight rifles to be able to shoot into completely dark tiles. This also gives Cargo something to do when they run out of magharnesses. Cargo can go make some rail flashlights along with bayonets.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Adjust rail flashlight brightness.
Remove a bunch of rail flashlights from Cargo vendor.

+1 Rail Flashlights are in a state where they might as well not even exist, given their poor performance while also taking over a vital attachment point.

Or, alternatively, why don't we add another attachment slot altogether? You don't mount a flashlight on top of a weapon, you put them to the side. Right now it could just be for flashlights, but perhaps in the future we could also add a laser attachment or whatever else, maybe something that improves one handed accuracy.

Anyways, just offering some branching ideas to the original, good idea.

I Like this, but the only problem i see is a marine starts using a rail flashlight as a perminate flare, and toss guns around with lights on them. either way, +1

" 2. Only two attachments per marine. Squad leaders and specialists may be issued three attachments."
-USCM Requisitions Office Directives.

At best, standard marines would be able to do that twice; however, they'd not be able to get any other attachments if they do that (unless the RO/CT doesn't know about the directives).

+1 as the rail flashlight needs to be more useful. Either that or flashlights should be taken off armour.

You can screwdriver a flashlight to make one. Armor lights are unlikely to be removed.

Anyway, this is a reasonable suggestion. I will add it next update. Resolved.
