new: aliens not requiring jelly

Post by KingKire » 29 Aug 2016, 21:25

New changelog has comeout for testing where aliens dont need jeely to continue to evolve, if anyone wants to leave their thoughts on it as this round plays out, i think it would be most helpful. Both aliens and marines would be great.
Gaze upon me,
for I have wandered deep into the ancient tombs of knowledge to which lie madness and sorrow, cleansing a path for all those who walk behind me...

...

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

~Furthermore, I consider that Floodlights should no longer be destroyed.~

Wait, now you don't need jelly to evolve anymore?

.. What is it good for now? I MUST KNOW.

Just adding that jelly progress is halted while there is no queen.

I kinda like it. The only time before where xenos werent progressing was if the queen was bad and didnt create a jelly stockpile before going off and dying.

This makes it easier to kill xeno teams that can't keep a queen alive.

Expect rambo queens that die to generate enormous resentment from xeno players. It used to be if they had eggs and jelly the queen's death isn't that harmful, but now if you die as a queen doing something stupid the entire hive suffers.

It's the opposite of what I wanted. This only encourages aliens to further AFK in the hive while they gain levels, or turtle hardcore.

I think you should actually have to do things that your class calls for; Drones securing, planting weeds, dropping buildings, hunters infecting/attacking hosts, that sort of thing, to promote actually doing your job instead of seeing 5 aliens a round sitting in the hive waiting for ancient crusher or w/e

So you think it is better to constantly bother the queen for jelly just so you can upgrade?

Before the update, xenos had to beg and fight over jelly in order to grow, which slowed down progress for the xeno swarms and sometimes resulted in xenos being unable to upgrade at all due to not getting jelly and having no jelly nearby to eat. Now that the queen doesn't have to lay jelly, she can focus more on laying eggs and leading, and her xenos can get right to work instead of rushing over to the queen and begging her until she gives them what they want.

I think this promotes more activity for the xenos than the old way, allows them to get to work without fear of lagging behind.

I disagree, because I never saw a queen not provide enough jelly, and good queens left jelly stores for if they died.

Now, if the queen dies the whole hive 100% suffers.

Toroic, I know there has been a rash of bad queens lately, but I think you need more faith. Yes, this makes being a xeno more challenging now and requires queen players to play smarter if they want their swarm to have a chance (as well as the following update making the collection of dead after every battle very important now), but there are bright sides to this, mainly in promoting more activity among xenos and making upgrades come at a more steady pace, as well as having more plasma for eggs now instead of having to pay a whopping 350 plasma for a single blob of jelly, which is a real annoyance when you are trying to ensure your hive has enough eggs to supply your horde with and slow the marines down.

Now that I think about it, having the whole hive suffer due to the loss of a queen is rather balancing, since the loss of a queen is similar to no longer having a commanding staff to lead the marines. The lack of leadership SHOULD be crippling. You know what it is like to be a marine with no SL, no BO and no commander to give orders? I been there, it is pretty hectic..
