B18 Combat Boots
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Add B18 Combat Boots to the B18 Experimental Kit.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
This will add to the general immersion of being a B18 Specialist as you no longer gear up in BADASS POWER ARMOUR only to put on some regular old marine booties.
This will also mean aliens can't cheese your armour choice by just slashing at your feet, which may not kill you, but will certainly stop you from getting back up to do anything remotely useful.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
This would work as listed above.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Not sure if this is helpful at all, but could it be possible to just reskin normal boot sprites, make them a seperate item and change armour values.

This is a great idea +1. I say this because what's the point of having such bad ass armor only to get destroyed because you literally have an Achilles heel.

+1 Make me a special knight because the B18 already slows you down. Let's have a better range of protection so your feet isn't cheesed, hoozah!
Fun to be had, time to be glad.

+1, full body armor everywhere, A huge ass elite class man from bf1 with a huge chain gun, with plastic boots on for style of course. What do you mean it doesn't protect my feet?

+1. I can't think of a single reasonable explanation for why this isn't already a thing.

Probably because it already covers the feet.

Re: B18 Combat Boots
But it doesn't, this is why ayyys (should) target feet for B18 specs. Slashing anywhere else basically means the B18 Spec has enough time to punch you to death before he gets into crit. Unless your a Ravager and somehow haven't gotten yourself killed yet, then the B18 might need to use one of the guns he brought.Abbysynth wrote:Probably because it already covers the feet.

+1 While it is amusing as an alien to punish B18 specs, I think it is a bit yakety-saxy to just swoop in and chop feet off like you're King Arthur.

+1 Lets be honest, the armor already protects your hands, why not the feet?

Did no one see Abby, the old head coder say it already covers feet? This isn't needed

Re: B18 Combat Boots
It may not mechanically be needed, but it certainly makes sense, in both IC and design senses. Why would the tank of the squad, meant to be taking the brunt of damage compared to the rest of their teammates, be given with the same mass-produced equipment eponymous of the most useless member of the USCM? While mechanically the suit may provide protection for the feet, ICly it does not, which doesn't make sense considering they're issued gloves with better protection with that. In terms of design, why does the heavy-duty assault trooper suit come paired with the same boots that literally every single other combat role in the game uses? If the time was taken to give the B18 set special gloves when squad-based gloves were already available, why not take the time to distinguish their boots as well?

It may say that yes but B18 spec users still get cheesed by foot slashing xenos.Doesn't that mean it doesn't cover the feet? if it did then xenos couldn't slash a B18 spec users feet off..which they can.Casany wrote:Did no one see Abby, the old head coder say it already covers feet? Limbs are just weaker. B18 protects hands, arms and feet but my arm always gets cut off super fast even though it should be protected. Re: B18 Combat Boots
It doesn't cover the feet. But it may in the future, if Joshuu changes the way the armor looks, like he said he wanted to do.

Re: B18 Combat Boots
I'm going to mark this as resolved, then. You'll see a changelog if/when it happens.
