Marines cannot pull/drag the biggest xenomorphs when alive, and are slowed by the rest.

Post by saronsen » 07 Sep 2016, 00:31

Summary: Marines are no longer able to speed away with the Queen and other large xenomorphs doped up on hypzerine, or anything else for that matter.

Benefits: A whole lot more realism considering the weight of Xenomorphs.

Details: The smallest, lightest evolved xenomorph weighs in the range of 300 pounds. The Queen weighs 10 tons. TEN. TONS. Drones are 350 pounds. In no way should a marine be able to drag a 10 ton monstrosity at full sprinting speed, or rather, at all. Queens, Hivelords, Ravagers, Crushers, and Praetorians are no longer draggable while alive. Smaller xenomorphs slow down the movement speed of marines similar to xenomorphs dragging them or monkies.

Implementation: Make the super-heavy Xenomorphs undraggable while alive, and the smaller ones slow you when alive. Decrease speed all around when moving dead xenomorphs, but the larger ones become draggable when dead.

Make it extremely slow (halved walk) on bigger or require butchering for transport and halved run for smaller and it's a proper +1.

Research needs all the bodies they can get I fear.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Let me rephrase that to LIVING xenomorphs. Thanks for reminding me what research needs.

Removed Carrier from the undraggable list too, they're not exactly tanky, strong, or fat, considering their speed and ability to hurl crabs with a lot of dexterity.

Do you mean ingame?

I'm a frequent spectator and victim of crushers and queens being dragged two or three screens over after getting HE'd and then crit.

None of the SADAR rockets stun crushers (no, not even AP) and He does nothing to a crusher but briefly blind it.

Yeah sorry, you're right. They're dragged out a fuckload during crit which is still kinda funny, considering they can flip over armored vehicles with one good charge, cause they're so damn big.

This just confuses me cause i've never seen anyone try pulling a live xeno at all since i'm sure thats a bad idea.

Why wouldn't you drag out that stunned queen or crit rav/crusher into the middle of your squad to get mown the fuck down since they're defenseless?

I've seen it happen a lot, and even marines pulling stunned xenos into mines.

Once a cheeky marine tried to pull me while slashing with a machete after I rammed a sentry. It didn't end well for him, as I promptly tackled and decapped, but it was a bold attempt.

Xenos able to slash while downed is always great when you're the xeno :)
Although I deeply hate it when a xeno fuck-up trying to pounce at you and just slash you while it has 2 huggers and you have no helmet or it just outright slash / tackle you while you try to run and it almost instantly kill you...

Returning to topic: Having restrictions on xeno drag could help, although do consider lowering the interaction rate of downed xenos somehow if possible when this is implemented, as to balance things out (Or something like that).

I did this to a hunter yesterday who pounced a marine and was slashing them to try and save the marine who got pounce slashed, I mean it saved them in the end.

Currently xenos pull xenos much slower than marines do, further nerfs aren't necessary.

only +1 if t1 and t2 aliens can't pull t3 aliens and queen, otherwise, it doesn't make sense that a human can't pull a crusher-ravager, while a young runner can.

We can suggest that once this is accepted.

In the meantime, this is an issue, as a crusher, I've been knocked into crit on weeds, then dragged away and shot a shit ton until I died.

Indeed. If it becomes a little too xeno-favored, it's just as easy to suggest some changes for the alieums too.

The issue with this is that xenos are supposed to be stronger than humans. I'd support T1 not being able to drag, but more than that and I think it'll cause more deaths than are from marines pulling now.
