On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
18-20 hours a week, depending on any school events that may pop up.
Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
I am not familiar with being staff on SS13 but I was a moderator in an old Gmod server before it closed down.
Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
No.
What other servers do you play on?
I play on Apollo Station once in a blue moon and Yogstation.
What are the 3 biggest servers you play on besides CM?
Above.
Have you had an application to Colonial Marines before?
No.
Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where?
No.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?
No.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on ANY server? If so, where and When (roughly)?
No.
Are you familiar with Slack (It's use is required)?
I am not familiar with Slack but since using it is required, I would be willing to learn.
Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.
1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.
Determine if it is an accidental discharge or not. If it is intentional and causing a distraction to the round, freeze him and question what he is doing. Give a ban if needed and put a note on his record.
If it is just an accidental discharge, don't interfere.
2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.
-Determine the cause of the breach, see if it was intentional or accidental.
-If it was intentional, find the person who caused it, give a ban for griefing (I don't want to put a number down for the ban length as I wouldn't know how long to give them). If possible I would also repair the damage done by the griefer.
-If it was accidental, a warning would be given.
3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.
Nuke codes can only be given by the head admins, no codes would be given to them unless the head admin approves. An encouragement, possibly a M.O.T.H.E.R. scan, to get the marines going would be most likely to get the marines going again.
4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.
-Check the researcher's record to see if he has similar offences. If it is the player's first offense, give a stern warning to the researcher and warn him against handing grenades like that to the troops. Make a note on his record for that.
-If it isn't his first offence and has similar offences, a permaban may be filed.
-PM the marine his reasoning for throwing a napalm grenade into logistics. Give him a temporary ban, make a note on his record, and alert admins to the situation as soon as possible (whenever they get on) to get a more concrete decision on whether or not the player's ban might be extended.
5. A played is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.
-I would ignore it once if the I was the only one staff member on as it isn't worth getting worked up by one person.
-If I am not the only staff member on I would immediately send a warning so the player doesn't bother other staff.
-If the player does it again, I would warn them against making such remarks, especially against staff members, and inform them that if they continue, they will be subject to a temporary ban.
-If the player continues after the warning, I would apply a temporary ban and make a note of it their record.
6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.
I would politely inform the marine of the server's naming policies, ask them to change it upon round end, and ask a admin if they could give him a temporary name for the round (if this is possible).
6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
I would inform the player that all players are advised to read the rules upon entering the server and that players are expected to know at least the basics of the rules about RP and Gameplay. The name must be changed.
7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.
I would check to see if the Doctor is in immediate danger of being wounded or killed and send him a PM as to why he is carrying the rifle and not treating the wounded in medbay. Inform him that he must drop the rifle and link him the exact rule. Recommend he treats the wounded.
8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
I would tell him that he isn't allowed to perform surgery as a Squad Medic, no matter the reason he is performing it. I would tell him that if he wants a doctor at the FOB he needs to ask his SL to request the CMO for one along with the Commander's permission. Otherwise, he will have to send the wounded to the Sulaco for surgery. I would also PM him the actual rule verbatim to reinforce the point.
9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
As a moderator isn't allowed to run events, I would most likely just send a M.O.T.H.E.R. report/scan. If they continued I would see if I could force the marines to leave through High Command messages and/or contact the xeno queen through the intergalactic telepathy of the Empress.
10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.
-I would give an immediate 3 hour ban as per the rules and put a note on his record.
11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.
If a marine throws the soap once at the beginning of the round and doesn't cause too much of a disturbance, it is fine. If the marine continues to throw soap at people and not get geared up I would warn him to stop and review his behavior to see if further intervention and/or disciplinary measures are needed.
12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
I would investigate to see if the marines followed the proper escalation of force. If Pvt. A punched Pvt. B and Pvt. B immediately resorted to blasting Pvt. A with a SADAR, Pvt. B didn't follow the proper procedure and would be issued a hard warning or ban depending on his record. Pvt. A must also be investigated to make sure that they started the escalation of force for valid reasons. The same procedure and rules apply for Pvt. A.
Any additional information you'd like to add?
I don't know anything about the staff side of SS13 at all and would have to be worked with quite often to learn but, I am willing to learn to be part of the team.

You know what, I like it. Only criticism I have is, make sure you check notes before handing out bans. Sometimes, if the person has no notes relating to the issue, you can just go with a stern warning. Otherwise, I don't think you would make a bad addition to staff. +1.

Re: Snypehunter007 - Moderator Application
The only issue I see is the part with the researcher, with our current rules the researcher wouldn't be at fault due to the fact that they just made rhem. The marine throw g the nade would be the one who was at fault for the incident.
