Description of the incident:

So, I had just set up the core with Noah Kirchner (who I believe will also be leaving some input on this) when I turn away to talk to a Squad Engineer. I pause to check the power console when, SURPRISE, there's no power left. The SMES isn't working either. So, I go out there to see what the problem was.

It turns out that someone had fucking ejected the supermatter core. In my panic to figure out what happened, I notice an emergency shutter is down. Already having some suspicions as to who had done this, I open it up. Suddenly, I'm thrown back into the Engine Room by the fucked up pressure and bombarded with phoron.

It goes downhill from there.

A few other brave souls tried to help stem the flow of the phoron, only to be flung about by the fucked up atmos and melted alive by phoron. So now the station is without power and engineering's upper level is completely inoperable. Turns out one of or both of these two players were responsible, having self-antagged with the reasoning 'that destroying their only means of getting back to civilized space and away from nasty aliens is to sabotage the vessel owned by the uscm to spite W-Y'.

Yeah.

Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc): Logs, probably, as well as a shitload of witnesses.

How you would punish the accused:

Long, long, long (maybe even perma) bans and/or permanent job bans from any engineering-related job.

I spoke with the players after the incident (I just got on) and they reassured me that it was RP and that W-Y was a "Fag corp."

Atmos/engineering was fucked pretty badly.

An assisting MP was job banned for the incident for failing to maintain order aboard the ship.

I feel it was a failing on my part for not immediately job banning them on the spot, however this gives us all an example on the difference between Self antagging and Roleplay.

I am eager to hear of the players shortly, as they will be unable to play due to the immediately placed three day ban on each.

Ontop of this, they also repeatedly use acronyms and stuff like "lol" or "idk", or ask for wiki's for certain jobs over the IC radio. I'd be cool with this if it was one or two times and they're new, but they've been told repeatedly by multiple different people to stop and they continue doing it. ALSO, the one or two times they've been in discord, they've openly admitted to being in the same teamspeak, being best friends and ALSO being in a guild together. They also rarely talk to each other ingame, and always seem to find each other whenever's something wrong. I've ahelped about it before but I know that metacomming is hard to detect, so I was fine with a lack of a response. This, along with everything that Elijah said here make me think that they need a decently sized punishment, not just because their actions effected me, but because what they did is near impossible to fix and if they end up doing it again would ruin the round for all of the marines.

Nah, dude, don't worry about it. The entire situation was really fucking confusing, and I was involved in it. God only knows what it would have looked like to a third party.

Also, I can confirm this happens a LOT.

I know for a FACT that Jette metacomms with people, and I'm pretty sure logs can prove the whole acronyms thing.

I was BO Benoit 'Kazuhira' Meunier during that round. The CO, I believe, had to go out and assist with fixing atmos; and were forced to lug around an oxygen tank plus mask.

Would strongly support the punishment in the original post.

So I have spoken with the players in Discord regarding what happened, while they are not new to SS13, they are new to CM.

Regarding their note history it's mostly non existent.

They have explained themselves and we, Aetsuki and I, have explained to them where the lines between RP and Selfantagging lies.

While this does not clear their actions they acted mature in the discussion and I feel the situation would be best left with it's current three day bans with no further action, due to the severeness against their inexperience.
Talking always helps and it's shame they did not speak for themselves on the forums for all to hear, however im confident they have learned and there will be no repeat offence.

In conclusion punishment has been handed out, the players spoken to thoroughly over direct comms and due to their very miner offence history im content to let this finish with that, I have changed my earlier stance of further punishment and should anyone disagree considering this, please, speak up.

I rescind my earlier remark about the permanent ban from an Engineering position.

Better for them to understand what they did and be handed a relatively minor punishment, rather than permaban them and give the impression that we're no fun all of the time.
