Huggers as Mobs.

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Make huggers Mobs that can only move on weeds, remove ability to carry huggers from all xenos besides carriers and Queen.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): This is a major overhaul of how huggers and xeno combat works, so I know it will likely never be implemented. But I can dream. Hugger combat is silly as hell. This way hosts would need to be incapacitated and dragged to an area that had huggers/eggs.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Huggers crawl around on weeds slowly, until they sense a host and then they quickly run at em and leap/infect. They would have to be immobile off weeds for balance. Maybe even make it so they can only move on a different, specialized type of weed (wew another huge change) to prevent lags from huggers running all over the damn place, and to create birthing rooms/trap zones, etc.

Possibly give huggers a life span of 10-20 minutes while not being carried, to cut down on OP hugger spam/lag. You'd only mass open eggs in case of attack, but could have a few scurrying around at any given time. Optional: give Queen the ability to hatch all eggs on command.

Seriously try to imagine the Alien movies with hugger combat as we have it and not chuckle.

I would actually be down for this as it would encourage the clearance of weeds, although no doubt xenos may end up getting annoyed at marines for clearing weeds 'early' which is rather daft.

Although I can already rell that carriers and the queen would probably just stack rooms filled with huggers so when a wall goes down it's a horde of huggers and easy pickings for the aliens.

Either way I think it wuld be nice to test this out.

Yeah that's why I think they'd need to have a short-ish life span outside of their eggs. But you could make some cool traps with eggs behind walls +a queen ability to hatch all eggs on command from a distance.

If the devs even try testing this out that's already more than I expected from posting this suggestion.

edit: If they only ran on a different type/colour of weed, it would also give marines a headsup that they were in a trap zone, so wouldn't be overly OP I think

Nonononononononononononononononononononononononono.

I'm sorry, but the last time huggers had AI, you could not move on Alien territory at all. Alpha squad opened ONE FUCKING LOCKER, and they hunted every marine down until we were all infected.

Would require most xeno castes to be reworked, barring drones, to be able to actually infect anything.
Only spitters can reliably keep someone down while dragging them across the entire map. And no, you can't eat and tunnel them without serious risk.

I addressed that with needing to be on weeds (maybe specialized weeds) and having a life span.

I don't think it would need much of a re-work for castes, just a change of tactics. Possibly a more reliable way to to break bones without dismembering, or an effective grab/safer devour. Im no dev and I realize this suggestion is mostly just wishful thinking, but If they ever felt like doing it I'm sure it could be worked out in testing.
