Change self injury check saying a limb is "bleeding" to something else

Post by rev_benji » 06 Oct 2016, 18:06

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):When you check yourself for injuries, clicking yourself with help intent, the second tier brute damage adjective is "bleeding" as in "your right arm is bleeding." This is not an indication of actual bleeding, this only indicates brute damage on that limb being above a certain threshold. I suggest changing this to something else, as it causes confusion.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):people wont think they're bleeding when they arent.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):Example: one round I was a medic. a spec by the name of Jack Knight was standing by me as I was treating patients with serious injuries. I could see he had very little damage with my hud. He was crying to me to heal him because he was bleeding, while I was fixing people on the ground who were actually bleeding. He punched me and started yelling. I scanned him, he had around 20 damage and was not bleeding. I patched his boo boo and informed him as such "Well I'm not bleeding NOW." he said as he walked off. I tried to tell him in looc that "bleeding" doesn't mean bleeding, and not to punch me, not sure if he got it. He later hit me and 2 other reens with an FF sadar shot... but anyway clearly this confuses people.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):Obviously you would just have to change it to a different word, probably wouldn't be hard. I can't really think of a good substitute, maybe scraped? That doesn't really sound good. But as it is, its very confusing to people who don't know this.

"Battered" could be a good substitute. And I agree, this should be changed.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

+1 I agree too, cause it confuses the newer players and they keep begging me to stop their bleeding when I'm a medic...

I like battered. Another thing that would be nice is if the self check would actually reveal bleeding. Maybe should have put that in the OP, but I'm sure that would be harder to do than a word substitution.

Nah, that's more of a visual thing, which you can already see by examining someone... or yourself.

Solid +1, will help a lot not to waste quick clot or tric doze on some light damage.

While I don't know much about the coding of CM this strikes me as something that could be easily changed, and as stated in the benefits would reduce confusion for new players.
I'm Felix Jones, and I approve of the above message.

I actually got both accosted and assaulted yesterday for ignoring bleeding wounds because of these notices, I sent an injured marine on the Rasp after stabilising them and not only did he assault me but so did several other Marines because he still read bleeding wounds.

I had to explain bleeding doesn't mean bleeding in LOOC

This is pretty much a bug. The adjective was changed to "battered" as suggested.
