Mathias has also been under employ from Weyland Yutani in private security affairs in which he is legally bound to silence concerning these affairs.
Served two tours as a Private, worked to Lance Corporal and then four tours as Corporal, two as Sergeant. Served in the Praxis campaign along with the Tientsin campaign and several others. Personality Information Mathias can be cold and numb at times and it is unknown if this is because of his old age or because of his mental stability (Most likely a combination of the two) Mathias can and will willingly risk his life and safety over someone else's behalf and has done so numerous times in combat situations. It will weigh heavily upon him if a fellow brother or sister in arms is to die in his company. After having many bad experiences in his dark past, he carries many dark and depressing burdens but manages to keep them on hold for the majority of his deployment, these experiences haunt him through everything he does. Despite everything however, Mathias can learn to trust someone rather quickly (albeit to much of his regret later) and can be rather friendly at times depending on who he is with. May have slight anxiety as he dislikes being around large numbers of people and can get rather uncomfortable around groups of 12 or more. It is believed that Mathias lost his right eye to a stray sniper round while on a previous deployment, the result of which makes him untrusting and suspicious of snipers. Lost both his hands to an explosive during his deployment on Praxis, his hands were mangled and totally FUBAR and so were replaced with mechanical prosthetics. It has been recorded that he does not wish to elevate to a position of command, when questioned about potentially becoming a Sergeant, he sharply refused and stated, "If the situation falls to a point so grim that everyone above me has fallen and i'm the highest in the chain of command then god fuckin' help us. Seriously though, i don't want to lead someone to their death or due to my incompetence get a whole squad wiped out and having only me walk away from it, i don't think i could ever forgive myself and it would probably end up being the death of me." When asked about why he returned from retirement he had stated, "All i have left is the Corp, so for as long as i can breathe and as long as i can hold a rifle then i'll fight, either until i can't fight no more or someone fights me and wins." Has no known family members other than his sister who was taken away after birth. His sister, Amelia, would grow up without the knowledge of Mathias and would also enlist in the USCM but would be confirmed KIA after the ship she was on would be destroyed by a nuclear fission explosive. Mathias learned of her existence only after she had died as he was contacted by the Corps and told of her status, he would lose his sister without even knowing of her existence.
Recently he had fostered an orphan that he had found while on a deployment to a massive human city that was currently in revolt. A young girl named Sasha who's parents were killed by rebels was found starving and alone in the war torn streets where she was picked up and saved by Mathias. She was starving and barely getting by so Mathias had her evacuated and shortly after his deployment came to a close, he signed the papers to look after her as his adopted daughter and with this he would give up combat roles in favour of more support roles so that he may still serve the Marines and also be able to care for Sasha who was barely a young woman at the time. After serving for a few more years and after Sasha taking an interest in her (Adopted) Father's interests in the corp, she had begged him to let her enlist to which Mathias was reluctant to start with but eventually gave in and let her enlist. Sasha is now twenty one but still stays with her Father when on leave. Sasha now serves as a Combat Engineer following her Father and knows much about falling on hard times. He has taken to writing a will that he keeps on his person at all times that detail a house on a planet in the Tau Ceti system that he plans to retire to with his daughter, the will mentions leaving the property to Sasha if he fails to return home. - When someone takes the initiative to do something for him without him asking.
- People who act politely and generally people of a friendly nature.
- A certain Researcher/Doctor that doesn't like hugs.

- Pizza, had his hands blown off to a IED which was hidden inside a pizza box.
- When someone has died due to something that Mathias has done or lack thereof.
- Iron Bears are greatly despised by Mathias after the events regarding his temporary capture.
- Non-combatants being irrationally fired on or gunned down for minor infractions, Mathias was involved in cleanup and riot control operations with the Cristobal Massacre and seeing civilians shot down now reminds him of said massacre.
- Borcuse Girge: Would often take pleasure in teasing Girge with jokes about his girlfriend having crabs to which Girge would become infuriated by, in actuality Mathias highly respects Girge for standing by his woman and for his combat prowess and would happily follow under Girge's command.
- Harry/Ally Cowper: Doesn't usually talk with the Cowpers but when seeing either of them in distress, Mathias makes it a priority to help in any way he can, whenever he can. Reason behind this is believed to be for his loss of family as he knows very well how loss of family tears at one's soul and tries to prevent either of the Cowpers going KIA.
- Ironmonger: Just straight up dislikes the guy, doesn't see him as someone who is fit to lead or to even give out orders.
- Samantha 'Patches' Clark: Enjoys Clark's company and respects her as one of the best medics he's ever seen, Clark has also saved Mathias on numerous occasions.
- Kaytie 'Fox' Latesi: Was approached by Latesi who at the time was new to being an Engineer and agreed to show her the ropes, several operations later and Latesi can hold her own. Mathias still looks after her as he still considers her to be under his protection and sees her as his responsibility should anything ever come of her.
- Garth Powalski: Although Crassman holds a high level of respect for Garth, he also believes she looks too young to be deployed and that should anything ever happen to her then it would weigh upon him heavily as she is considered to be one of and if not then the only friend that Crassman still has that hasn't left him. Highly values her skill as an Engineer and a squadmate.
- August 'Slice' Walker: Saved Mathias once or twice, he claims that before he dies he will "Plow that ass". August has neither denied or approved of such advances.
- Dolthgar 'Fire' Folk: Damn good man to have at your side, damn good man. If Mathias ever went gay then this is who he'd turn to.
- Anne 'Shaky' Claudill: Holds a respectable and somewhat almost questionable friendship with Anne, can't bear it when she's sad and can't stand it when she's hurting. Mathias can also count on Anne to keep him alive in battle as he would easily place her at the top of his list of most valuable medics. Will also actually put effort into making her happier if applicable.
"Before i knew what was going on, they burst in through the ceiling and grabbed some of us that were too wounded to fight back. They kept us hostage for a few hours before they cut us loose and told us to run back, that's when we saw the Sarge standing out in the open with that thing in his hands. We all ran past him and he had this sad but understanding look on his face, he just kept walking forward and kept mumbling something as he walked. We saw him walk up to their fortifications when he just dropped it and it exploded. Last i ever saw of the guy."
A recently acquired mission report from the Mercenary group, "Iron Bears" has striking similarities to the mission that was entrusted to Sergeant Crassman and even details a person who was found at the site who was brought in for questioning and interrogation, the report says very little on Marine involvement and in fact even denies the Marine's presence at the dig site all together. Surviving Marine's also claim that the uniforms worn were unmistakably similar to those of Iron Bear appearance. Negotiations for reclaiming Sergeant Crassman are yet to begin.
The following information is a report on Crassman's status when he was "Found":
Subject requires non-immediate psychological evaluation and will likely never return to active duty should prosthetics be denied. Subject was found with amputated legs, arms and several anatomical damage to the skull, ribs and jaw. Prosthetics shall be offered and installed along with contract termination on medical grounds. Mental stability predicted to become severe. Retired From Active Duty After a successful deployment to Permus III, Mathias has signed off his contract and has officially retired at the age of 68 to live in peace on a small tropical world within the Tau Ceti system. He had this to say: "Long have i served the corps, with great pride, vigilance, duty and honour have i fought to ensure that humanity will live on to see another sunrise. Long have i fought to prevent those that would see this beloved corps brought to ruin and defeat. Long have i fought with gun, sword or by bare hand to see to it that the innocent are protected from facing death. Long have i fought with fellow Marines that would accept no better than to witness victory where there should be none. I will never truly leave the Marines and my hands will never truly forget the feeling of holding a rifle,
my eyes will never forget the horrors that come with conflict and my mind, a tool built to function as a machine for war will never allow me to forget what terrible costs have come for the price of our safety in this dark universe. To the corps, i have given all i can give and have carried out my orders and upheld my duties as a United States Colonial Marine. However, it is with my leave that i cherish the memories of great victories and stories of great acts of bravery that i will remember to tell to those that will listen for so long as i may live, the dead will not be forgotten and the heroes will never truly die. I won't forget the times during deployments with my fellow squadmates which as i still recall, warm my weathered and rusted heart. I go now to retire to a quiet life in a different system for i have earned my silence, the drums of war and the cries of the dying fill my ears no more as now i am absolved. Forever and always, Semper Fi."
From most recent news from his daughter, Sasha Crassman, Mathias has passed away at the age of 68. Natural causes claimed his life while he slept, in a bed he owned under his own roof, on a world he fought for. In accordance with his last will and testament, Mathias wanted to be dressed in his uniform and incinerated. His ashes remain at his home. Sasha had stated, "As much as i'll miss the old man, with respect and all, i'm glad his name wasn't etched into a memorial stone, dying in some foxhole somewhere. Here, we got to say goodbye and he drifted off gently into his eternal rest... I can thank god for that much."
