Good notes/Positive notes
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):If a player has done something worth noting like RPing extremely well or playing like an amazing doctor if you run the entire medbay by yourself or something like that. Also I don't know if this has been posted before or not but if it has then can someone find it and linking it here and maybe revive it.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):Notes arent always a negative thing and having lots of good notes can affect time if you do get banned and you have a good note(s) recent enough.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):Same as benefits really.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):Just like writing a negative note for breaking a rule but have another section of good notes or positive notes that you put them in so it wouldnt get crowded having them all just under notes.

Re: Good notes/Positive notes
There is no such thing as a good note. I stand by this.
Ideally, it'd be great.
Practically, notes are given when staff notice you doing something. It's not really possible to get noticed for doing something good w/o ahelping it... and that's awkward at best.

Re: Good notes/Positive notes
I thought this was already a thing, just rarely used and this could easily be used especially for predator since there are some players who play in the late hours, yet are rarely known, so when they ask for a pred app they get, who are you and -1.... So +1 for this suggestion which is probably already a thing

I've been writing positive notes since 2014, gonna keep going.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

Re: Good notes/Positive notes
You can but as far as I know there is no separate section in the player panel for positive notes specifically only just notes and yeah you can write them in with just notes but then it would get crowded among the negative notes.JPR wrote:It IS a thing, you just gotta ask for one... and it's awkward as hell.

Re: Good notes/Positive notes
I believe notes only exist for validhunting....although if this was implemented it would be a good counter to some players who used to make bad decisions but got their shit straight and did good for once.

Re: Good notes/Positive notes
Notes are inherently neither good nor bad. They're just staff putting a note on a player. However staff typically only put bad notes on players because it usually takes something exceedingly noteworthy to get a good note. On the server I used to play on I only had ~12 good notes for something retarded like 8 years of playing.

When's the last good note you've given dated, if you can remember/look up, compared to how many bad notes you've given in the time since?

Last I saw a good note was either early 2016 or late 2015. Notes are primarily for staff to just say "Hey this guy did this shit." It doesn't have to be good or bad.JPR wrote: Notes are ONLY bad in my experience.

But it's been... a YEAR since you've seen a good note? That's kinda what I was going for. Hell, look at my second note (I think, the one by Slc?). I did something impressive that bothered no one, and IMPRESSED him, while tending all my responsibilities.Gentlefood wrote: Last I saw a good note was either early 2016 or late 2015. BAM. NOTED. IF HE DOES IT AGAIN, FUCK HIM.
Lesson learned. I'll stick to doing boring/HIGHLY DANGEROUS but "legit" things eery round.
I feel rather strongly about "good" notes, and I still say they don't exist.

Re: Good notes/Positive notes
You act like good notes are an obligation or an expectation. Its completely up to the staff member's discretion to put a good note or not. And with how busy our server is and how many staff also like to play the game, its simply not a really realistic expectation.JPR wrote: But it's been... a YEAR since you've seen a good note? Re: Good notes/Positive notes
And that's the point I'm trying to make. "Good" notes don't happen. Ever. Notes are ONLY bad.Gentlefood wrote: You act like good notes are an obligation or an expectation. "Good" notes are already allowed, but are not used, due to the difficult nature of watching one player for an ENTIRE round exclusively, then commenting on his playstyle... which is not realistic.
If the suggestion author wants "good" notes to be a thing, I would suggest that players be allowed to adminhelp ONCE with a thing they've done that's positive, uncommon, and helps the OVERALL enjoyment of the server and their team (not just yourself, e.g. I KILLED 4 AYYLMAOS/12 MUHREENS!!1! is not... something worthy of a good note, while "I used a pick to help my squad flank an entrenched alien position/dragged 2 teammates to the rasp before being killed/Made an atmos bomb and got it to command/built a cloner array on the upper deck/ took the time to RP with the hosts" would be) to request a "good" note.
The responding staff can, at his discretion, and if not busy, choose to investigate and confirm the ahelp-ee's actions, check his past notes, and write a "good" note if no similar note exists. If the staff is busy, or disagrees, just "No response necessary" it.
That's how I'd set it up, but what do I know?

Re: Good notes/Positive notes
Going to be perfectly honest with you, most of the examples you listed, were you doing your job... I admit "good" notes are rare and I want them slight less rare but they shouldn't be handed out like candy. If they were to be handed out, I would say it would be great acts of RP for instance I think when Jones was playing a pred and a survivor ended becoming his slave who throughout the round was learning the ways of the pred and acted like religious fanatic thinking the preds were some angles and what not OR having a player go out of the their way to help someone and not in metabuddy kind of way but actually helping for instance Noah is a memey fucker but I have seen him countless times tutor a new player for entire rounds, just to help a new player out. That is just fantastic and I honestly props for it.JPR wrote:-snip-

Re: Good notes/Positive notes
If you want to know an example of what was considered a 'good note' for me. Years ago I played on a fairly popular server, it was a pretty normal round, lord singuloth got loose and ripped the station in half. All the arrivals pods were also fucked but escape was mostly intact. I took it upon myself as an engineer to build an emergency scaffolding walkway from the intact half of the station to escape and re-pressurized both by myself with nothing special like an RCD but the tools in my belt and my backpack full of a handful of materials.
This caused instead, of maybe a handful of lucky survivors braving the cold death that is space for a chance at the shuttle, the entire surviving crew to safely make it to the escape shuttle and survive. All because of some quick engineering work.

I'd love to see that as well. The examples I gave were of people doing their job, because that's something that's good to note, and easy to confirm. It's not so much just great deeds I was trying to list, but helping other players/cooperating/RP'ing.TheSpoonyCroy wrote: Going to be perfectly honest with you, most of the examples you listed, were you doing your job... Regardless, it's rare to see anyone with good notes because it either means the moderator isn't paying enough attention to shitters or it's lowpop.

Re: Good notes/Positive notes
Lets be real, if you aren't doing your job, chances are you might get jobbanned for doing so. Also notes are there for reference for staff, reason why they are mostly "negative" since its something that something that might come up again. Really I feel players fear notes, like gentle is saying they are technically they are neither good/bad. So it would be a bad idea to have someone's notes filled to the brim with just bog standard, you did your job congrats. Yes some acts can be a great help and those could possibly be noted but again menial task shouldn't ever be notedJPR wrote:-snip-

One line, and I think I just listed most jobs there. And that's all you need to throw in.

Re: Good notes/Positive notes
Typically when I have seen good notes, we have them set for people who RP well consistently. Such roles like CL, CDR, and Survivor typically get you good notes if you RP well.
