All access for MPs? Not even the Commander has that access, and it's his own ship. The other two suggestions however are quite nice. Though I'm worried that a MP Seargent would just be set to High by trollers, and we will have bald MP Seargent bossing the other MPs around. Maybe a whitelist?
Kind of neutral where it's at, but I've noticed MPs lacking quite a bit access wise.

As a military police officer for a majority of my time on the server, I give a +1 to all of these- ESPECIALLY the First Sergeant, as even a round of perfect MPs can implode over minor differences in interpretation of the law. While it might seem like the Commander could do that (and SOMETIMES they can), often times the CO will make decisions contradictory to Marine Law, in which case the MPs /SHOULD/ just ignore it- which, one, sets them back to before they got the input, and two, could even be dangerous to the MPs on risk of being declared 'rouge' and hunted down by blood-thirsty marines at the slightest provocation.

All in all, despite MPs being the only enforcers of the law, they're not given much weight. And /because/ of MPs being the only enforcers of the law, in-fighting can completely disable the Brig as officers taze and arrest each other over simple disagreements of how the law should be handled. The First Sergeant or Head of MP position would fix both of those problems, and be well within reason for the server- They wouldn't even need special equipment or such compared to the regular MPs, besides a simple distinct uniform for them. +1!

Edit: As for the susceptibility to trolls taking the position, I actually posted my own suggestion to talk about countering that, found here: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=9526

There's a rule in the suggestions rule thread about megaposts like this, I'd slice it down into three seperate suggestions for a better chance of any of them getting implemented because this type of post is not supposed to be done.

About the chargers (specifically on stun batons) they don't start to run out of charge because there's not enough chargers in the brig, they run out of charge because most MP's can't properly handle criminals and instead of stunning once then cuffing proceed to beat the prisoner 3, 4, or 5 times and in some cases STILL not cuff so they have to do it again. I think we need MP training manuals to teach MP's how to put cuffs on people when prisoners are down as opposed to beating them into submission.

+1 for the HOS *hopes that they're not a bumblefuck mcspazatron*

I think the motivation behind the megapost was that it still was one suggestion for improving Military Police, and the three 'suggestions' are just ways of doing that, and it was just formatted this way to avoid confusion- I don't know how the admins see it, however.

Y'see admins don't see anything at all! They just feel the posts with their adminsense. Any time someone breaks a rule, no matter how insignificant, the admins know. They can't actually observe the rule breaking however (which is why they punish people for it) because the horror of the rules being broken will burn out their eyes and cause them great pain. So instead they must wear secret glasses that block out the rule break and delete the post as quickly as possible to preserve their sight.

Neutral On the first ; I would usually say this would work for MP's, but because there are people who get the idea it's okay to tamper with equipment that directly effects how the operations go, and because MP isn't completely rule tight on things like this, there's going to be a lot of risk. Allowing MP's into rooms that house the SMES power units or even lower engineering (remember, people are aware of how phoron works) is just asking for a griefing (Lower Engineering is near the firing range, and that is the only place where MP's are truly allowed to hold firearms and use them without a Code Blue). Besides that, it'd be better to just have Engineering staff carry handguns.

+1 On the second -
My equipment has never actually ran out of power, but this is a greater alternative to just having one charger and getting a spare stun-baton and taser-gun.

Your third isn't bad, but neither is it good so neutral. MP's don't truly need to have someone in the same department giving them orders, since the regulars who choose this job pay serious attention to distress calls on the common channel, police channel, and Command Announcements. All in all, this would be needed if the server's RAM gets better and we can handle high pop rounds.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

For the first, +1.
For the second, is it REALLY needed? You got a LOT of sets of gear... +0
For the third, modification: The first MP selected by the game is given the First Sergeant, or MA rank, and is in charge of the department.

flamecow wrote:Why bother NOT adding a second charger? There's no reason it shouldn't be there. It is absolutely ridiculous for an officer to swap their gear every 30 minutes while they wait another 10 for everything to recharge.
Unless there's a mutiny or something, you shouldn't be running out of gear that quickly at all. The only thing you have that can properly run out of charge is your stunbaton, and that's a very situation weapon (unlike some MP's seem to think hue) Teach the MP's to be less shit instead of accommodating their stunbaton use

flamecow wrote:The problem is that you can not globally increase the skill for every MP player. If an MP can already just drop their taser and get a new one, why not add another charger? That makes more sense ICly.
If you somehow manage to run out of charge on a taser, you don't deserve recharges. The biggest problem are stunbatons which are more readily available and should be used little anyways. I've never seen anyone run out of charge in the chargers before anyways (and if they do run out of charge it'd make them more reliant on useful and less annoying/harmful shit like flashes, pepper sprays and their taser)

You don't break it OOCly- but you'll get banned OOCly for breaking it ICly, because you're required to follow it according to both IC and OOC rules.

+1 I play MP from time to time and these suggestions are pretty good I really like the first sergeant idea I think it would help out MPs alot and I do believe MPs should get a second charger even though they have lots of extra equipment around it would make more sense IC wise so +1 to that I'm not too sure about all access however I think a much higher amount of access should be added though so MPs can get to the proper areas +1 great post overall nice mate

Don't make large megaposts like this. It specifically says not to in the forum rules.

Some of this is under consideration. Also, don't post several things into one suggestion. It makes it difficult to sort through. Resolved.
