Xenomorphs can spew resin onto Marines
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Give Xenoomorphs (specifically Runner castes) the ability to spew a sticky, neurotoxic resin onto a victims mouth.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Xeno's won't need to rely on the Queen for eggs, or facehuggers for a silent capture when stalking hosts. Huggercombat and the number of Marine helmets having to be replaced would be reduced by a considerable amount.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
When a runner or hunter pounce on a Marine, they can click on the marine with Pull Intent and in the other hand click on the Marine again with Disarm Intent targeted to the mouth, allowing them to spew a resin onto the marine's mouth, knocking them out. The process would take 3 seconds and uses 10 plasma and with the victim semi-conscious they can still get up, but can't speak until the resin is pulled off of their mouth.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Coding and possibly iconning.

Re: Xenomorphs can spew resin onto Marines
Hmm, I'm kinda on the fence with this.
On the one hand, it'll help reduce metarushes by "muting" marines, who every often (despite being blinded by a hugger) end up blurting their location to the marines even if they happen to be locked in a 1 tile cell. How they know they are in the north wasteland across the river with a hugger blocking their view is beyond me...
On the other, while it would be nice to remove hugger combat, is their a chance this could be abused? Back then, cuffs were added to help xenos focus more on fighting and less on camping, but all that did was make the camping worse and create loads of salt to the point that they ended up removing them at some point. On paper, it seems fair, but in practice, we'd have to wait and see how it turns out. Maybe this'll make runners and hunters more valuable for host hunting, or it'll just become the new form of hugger combat... Or it won't be of much use at all as everyone just uses huggers anyways, just how science for the marines has done nothing despite the supposed advantages xeno samples provide.
Still though, muting marines would be nice so they don't go screaming "HALP HALP, XENOS GOT ME SEND HALP" and causing metarush drama.

The difference between this an resin cuffs is that this wouldn't truly affect the Marines by restricting them the ability to fight back. In practice, it could possibly work, but there'd be a chance of SLs being targeted midround to prevent the use of OBs so I can see where you're coming from.

I like this. The marine can still try to escape, but can't constantly scream out his location till he's actually free.

Not-so-lore-friendly if you'll ask me. Although hugger combat is as well, so I digress.

Do this and make huggers only able to be able to attach to marines via eggs to completely remove hugger combat. honk

I don't think this is canon. It would make sense to have hivelords do this to nested marines, but outside of that it would be shitCrab_Spider wrote:Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

Is this being used in place of combat hugging or in tandem with it, because the aliens sure as hell don't need another stun.

Re: Xenomorphs can spew resin onto Marines
Like a stun that removes your helmet, prevents you from fighting on the battlefield, turns the early round into a huge gamble when the Queen left host slashing off and didn't bother laying eggs, or later kills you because the very things you are fighting are terrible at killing, and makes a good deal of runner caste players so unrobust they have no reason to boast about their accomplishments?Surrealistik wrote:Is this being used in place of combat hugging or in tandem with it, because the aliens sure as hell don't need another stun.

ehh, not really cannon or lore friendly, and just sounds like a replacement for combat hugging. Which mind you, is a already a pain in the ass, and everyone can agree to that.

Re: Xenomorphs can spew resin onto Marines
Well xenomorphs are based around stealth, and because all xenos have resin in their system regardless of caste, it'd make some kind of sense for Hunters to make use of this resin. They're based around stealth and are aware of the consequences of sounds, so a screaming hosts would pose a great threat to the hive if the Marines have an idea of why the wildlife is hostile. All in all, you make a great point.Tristan63 wrote: I don't think this is canon. It would make sense to have hivelords do this to nested marines, but outside of that it would be shit

So why are they getting yet another stun they can use _with_ combathugging?

Re: Xenomorphs can spew resin onto Marines
Actually, I have another idea.
In the Aliens series by Robert Sheckley (not the one we've been going with, I know) the aliens have to first down a person in order to hug them, rather than downing them with the hugger first. They basically pin them down (tackling, pouncing, spitting) and then hold them for a few seconds, face-to-face, to allow the facehuggers they carry to crawl onto their captive.
Would it be possible to let all castes carry huggers in a similar fashion to a carrier (with only 2 huggers allowed, of course) but be unable to pick them up in-hand? If so, would there be any way to implement a "Facehug" ability that allows xenos to hug anyone who's standing still after a 3-second delay? Maybe ctrl+left click to pull could be used to do this, with a "Toggle Ctrl Clicking" verb in the alien tab.

In the lore we offically take as cannon in our 2D space man game, huggers would actually have a mind of their own and cant be carried around by any alien accept for the carrier. I Think this is best not implemented till after incoming updates

I mean, I already see the "That hunter kissed me" memes...
Anyway-- I'll actually go with a -1... It's not due to my bad joke, but various reasons due to lore and also due to the general logic of it.
I do agree hugger combat is rather mean, but I'd rather have stamina drain on players than resin down my throat choking due to an alien barfing in my mouth- (Suddently, spitters allowed to melt your insides).

CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.
