Slaan Klaa-Raktu (Re-Application)

Post by Scrat505 » 31 Oct 2016, 12:49

Byond ID: Scrat505

Marine Name (so we know who you are, if you play alien mostly, state that here): McKenzie Swabey

Name of the character you want whitelisted (The name your predator will use. This must match your in-game predator name)

Slaan Klaa-Raktu

Are you familiar with the Predator Code Of Honor?

Yes.

Character background (A very BRIEF description of your predators background):

Slaan Klaa-Raktu may not have been raised that way, but he grew up as a true scholar. Although he readily accepted the values of the Raktu tribe (and the Yautja race at large), he was quick to learn that such traditions were not open to interpretation or questions, such as those about hunting (for food) and the tribute process his clan went through before their meals. Whilst all young of almost any species are infinitely curious about the world around them, it usually fades depending on the environment around them as they mature.

Slaan was a Yautja in which the light of curiosity, the age of 'why' never ended. Though he did mute his questions about things that returned rather hostile actions and words, he directed them elsewhere. He could almost be mistaken for a child even though he was indeed an adolescent, when he was permitted on hunting trips. Distracted frequently from the matter at hand (food), he poked and prodded at the fauna, smelled the air, and constantly snapped his vision about to new stimuli. He was often dismissed as stupid for this, but there was little outright complaint as he was able to what he was told.

As of yet unblooded, Slaan prepared for his upcoming trials. He and a handful of other unblooded were informed of where they would be hunting: a xenomorph game reserve, carefully culled when needed to keep a steady but manageable population. The goal is simple: bring back the head of a worthy Xenomorph, with 'worthy' being judged by the present Elders. They'd have from the afternoon to the early evening to get the job done, and were given a choice of melee weapons only: the classic wristblades, sword, or combi-stick.

Slaan considered his options. While, like nearly all, had used all three a fair number of times in combat and practice, and went over the pros and cons of each. He eventually decided that when the time would come within the following days he would pick the combi-stick because of its utility and defensive purposes. A bit of a multi-tool when such a weapon would basically be all he would get. He did his best to improve his skills with his weapon of choice.

When the day finally came, Slaan was flown to the game reserve with three other unblooded ones. Ever observant and nosy, he found another combi stick and two sword wielders. Mildly interesting, he thought. Why did nobody pick the wristblades? He was still in thought when he was jolted to attention: it was time for the hunt to begin. Yet, there would be no stalking and killing just yet. As is a longstanding tradition, the unblooded ones had to construct their shelter before they could begin.

Slaan looked around - a humid jungle with towering trees surrounded him. He had trouble gathering materials. After all, he could not strip bark or leaves so easily with a blunt instrument. Thusly, he made do with the puny hunting knife provided to the unblooded. As such, he was a bit slower than his fellow Yautja, and was the last to construct his shelter. Already sensing the disapproval from his Elders, he finished up and quickly made his way into the thick.

With hours ahead of him and a requirement to fulfill, he scampered up the nearest tree. His curiosity got the better of him, and he was unsure of how much time he wasted checking out every shape on the horizon. When he finally snapped out of it, he continued to travel amongst the trees. He quickly bypassed some smaller xenos that he didn't want to risk injury and time taking down, knowing that it would be insufficient anyway. However, he finally did eventually spot the prey that would do. Or perhaps, it was the prey that spotted him...

When deciding to move on the ground instead, there was a shuffle in the leaves. Turning to face the threat, all he saw initially was a facehugger flying towards him. Quickly snapping up his stick, he managed to deflect it. The attacker was a Hunter, who had used the invisibility that Slaan did not have the convenience of using yet. The battle was fierce, but ultimately not very long. Slaan managed to block all of the Hunter's attacks, each countered by a firm thwack of the combi-stick, until finally the creature fell to the ground, where Slaan finished it off with a mercy blow to the skull. Finally, his prey lie dead. Slaan spent an irritatingly long number of time sawing away with his knife to disconnect the head from the rest of the corpse.

It was late. Slaan rushed the head back to where he began, and presented his kill to the Elders. He was the third to present his kill, as the fourth arrived shortly after him. The Elders deemed his kill sufficient, and all four of the unblooded that had landed there earlier this day underwent the ceremonial to graduate to fully blooded Yautja.

When all was said and done, Slaan was finally permitted to hunt . Though blooded, he was still a novice, a curious adept, at heart, and would need guidance from those more experienced in the times ahead...

How do you intend to play your predator (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your predator. This will weigh HEAVILY and frequently breaking from this MAY result in removal)?

I plan to play a Predator that is curious to a fault. Almost anything can seem interesting, and require further examination and collection, even what most humans would call merely mundane. This curiosity extends to humans, and so I'd be talking to them a lot more, probing them and questioning them about every little thing, whilst still maintaining a neutral party to begin.

This however does not extend as deeply to Xenomorphs. Though curious as can be, Slaan is smart enough to realize that most of his xeno prey are not open to conversation, though quiet observation is always an option, to see how the hivemind ticks.

In combat, I would not have a huge focus on stealth nor just brute bumrushing, but mostly open combat that includes a lot of defensive moves and other such tactics with an avoidance of stuns (or taking advantage of stunned foes).

In summary, I would actually tend to stray away from personally initiating combat in favor of finding those who prefer a bit of RP in their rounds and interact with them. When combat is initiated by another party, I'd try and exert equal force - that is, killing a single marine who opened fire and not taking revenge on his entire squad as a result.

Why should we whitelist you?

Because I am responsible, am a fan of heavier RP situations, and know how to self-improve. An example of the latter may be my previous application, which even myself I did not feel content with, and so I re-did nearly everything (specifically the backstory) until I could look at it and say "Yeah, I think this is okay".

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?

No.

Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?

No.

Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor?

Yes.

Detailed, spellchecked story, realistic character, staff member.

Not much wrong when seen at a glance, and my only problem with it is your lack of forum activity.

Thank you! When making a new character I usually start with their flaws and build up. Makes any character feel believable.

I particularly like that their "weakness" can also be a strength depending on the situation. I was considering going for that almost dangerous level of curiosity (cuz that's what I do irl :P) when writing my pred app before I was..... encouraged to wait. Glad that, assuming you get accepted, I'll get to see how that plays into your predator's actions and hopefully it'll create some interesting roleplay scenarios for the marines :D.

Good story. Lots of detail, I liked the flaws as Noah said.

Strong roleplayer, good staff member. All around dedicated to the player base as well as the server itself.

- Story was actually quite interesting to read.
- I like the play style, it's unique and something that hasn't quite been brought on before; in terms of defensive play and lacking in stealth.
- Hunters don't actually turn invisible as far as my xenomorph knowledge extends, it's more them blending in with their surroundings (It compensates for the 2D interface SS13 plays on, adding a stealth element).

Overall, a solid +1 from me.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

My 2 issues (Pretty minor and personal):
Formatting & Forum post activity.

Otherwise, +1. It was good and I've not really found much issues with it, want to play someday with your char and/or against it. ^^
(Joke:) Plus, you're Canadian, how can you make a mistake!
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

I kinda like it. I do wish it was better structured and formatted for easier reading, but not bad. I'd be content with hunting with you. +1.

I'll lend my +1 too. Outstanding player, good roleplayer, the story and other bits were detailed and very enjoyable to read.
I play as this guy, proudly being dismembered by extraterrestrials since 2015.
Sometimes I might play other guys, you never know.
