30 second mute to recently dead

Post by Evan Stelf » 01 Nov 2016, 14:37

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):Basically give marines or aliens who just died a 30 second mute to dead chat. Allows those salty people to chill out for a bit before they can write mean words in the chat.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):Help stop the compulsive rage that people usually have when they just die and ghost, I think this will help me too from raging in ghost chat. Give people a bit to simmer down and not write as angry sentences.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Add those mutes that admins and mods can but, but only thirty seconds as soon as someone dies. Make it automatic or something, I am not fluent in code haha. So you would die, hit ghost, and couldn't be able to type anything for 30 seconds. When 30 seconds are up, you are able to talk.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Some coding thing, no idea honestly.

Give me some feedback on if this would work on not, thanks

I doubt this would work. People would just use that 30 seconds to type what they were going to say. It just seems like an inconvenience

-1, punishing the many for the actions of the few. Just words anyways.

When you're salty you can wait that and more to express your anger.

My experience has shown me that muted players, whether it's admin or game related, just get saltier.

Nah. Deadchat salt is what keeps the staff alive.

This is probably going to be inconsequential, if not making things worse, for the issue at hand

The best fix for extreme amounts of deadchat salt is just turning the whole thing off for a minute or three to let dead players realize how incredibly futile their whining are

-1, pointless in my eyes. It would just be an annoyance for the calm players and adding fuel to the fire for salt factories
