Logistics and why the fuck you should make it a priority.
I'm not going to write an extensive post explaining various points and arguments, because I am just too, god, damn, lazy.
But anyway, the one thing I hate seeing is Command not prioritizing the establishment of supply lines, fall back points and medical triage. These are like, the most important things to maintain manpower aswell as firepower. As a BO, I find it almost impossible to keep an assault co-ordinated and it's probably even more of a ballache for those commanding on the ground.
You don't need over complicated plans rife with pseudo-tactics and hollywood jive, you just need to get the FoB dug in deep with actual facilities. I'm talking ammo dumps, medical triage for wounded, food supplies. Also, it's good to have two lines of defense, think of the trenches and how that worked.
Then you want to set up fall back points, these would be lightly to heavily fortified entrenchments not too far from the assault. This is where supplies can be brought to, and for wounded to be stabilized and brought back to the LZs. It also functions as a place for you to fall back to, dig down and then prepare for an immediate counter attack. It's pretty much what the xenos do, they have their main hive and then some small hives for stowing hosts and healing their wounds. It's also how the marines win, by having the emplacements set so they can push the frontlines forward and keep everything sustained.
Without this, you'll find Marines losing ground way too fast, getting steamrolled before command decides to lose the planets. Like, I'm not an expert and there are plenty more experienced players than me. But I feel this is the kind of structure we need to commit to.

Re: Logistics and why the fuck you should make it a priority.
The problem with this is that it is reliant on having a good command staff to begin with.
The perfect command team consists of a commander and XO, a full crew of BOs, an RO and a full cargo team. I don't include doctors because, unless they have one on the ground, they spend most of their time in medbay tending to the battered and dead without need of being ordered around by the commander.
If you are lacking on a CO/XO, you lack leadership and it will effect the morale of marines considerably (despite what marines say, we still need a commander to lead us). Not having enough BOs/having lackluster BOs will hinder supply lines and make it harder to keep squads updated and coordinated, as well as make timing artillery strikes a nightmare.
Lacking a decent cargo staff would make getting orders down to marines a slow hassle, made even worse if there is no RO on deck. And even if you have a full cargo team, if it consist of lazy bums who only put the minimum effort into prepping orders, or idiots that gamble all of their funding on illegal weapons, then the marines on the ground are going to have a bad time. And even IF you have a perfect cargo staff, if the SLs aren't asking for orders, it is effort that is gone to waste.
Logistics is very important, but to make it work, you need a good team that is willing to give it their all to ensure the marines are properly led and supplied. There is no I in team.

You know whats fun? When the RO drops a supply package as you're skulking around as a young runner, So you push it into the hive and get it melted. He'll never know what happened to it.

Stuff like that is why communication is also important.Eenkogneeto wrote:You know whats fun? When the RO drops a supply package as you're skulking around as a young runner, So you push it into the hive and get it melted. He'll never know what happened to it.
If marines don't secure their landing zones before putting down a beacon, crates can get lost.. I know this feeling personally as RO, having dropped some real good loot, only to discover that it was all wasted because the marines fell back too soon.

From BO-s perspective:
[BO] - Hi marines, tell me when low on something! We need some time to get supplies, so the earlier you ask the better.
Some time later...
[marine] - Out of ammo. Send ammo now!
[BO] - RO, ammo needed.
No answer.
[BO] - RO, marines need ammo asap.
No answer.
[BO] - Anyone else in cargo? (Of course CTs don't answer when they see an SSD RO)
No answer.
[BO] to bridge. - I will get to cargo, looks like everyone is SSD.
[marine] - Where is the ammo? Command is idiot.
[BO] - We have some difficulties. In the meantime could you tell where you can get the supplies?
No answer.
BO arrives at cargo where RO and CT greet him, they weren't SSD.
[BO] - Marines need ammo.
[RO] - I have to order. Where should I send it?
[BO] - Marine, where should we send?
No answer.
BO gets back to bridge, sees he is at tablefort, maybe someone is near with a supply beacon.
[BO] on command - Any SL with supply beacons near tablefort?
No answer.
BO checks all squads on console.
[BO] - SSGT Blabla could you set up a supply beacon?
No answer.
[BO] - Please respond.
No answer.
[BO] - I beg you to respond.
[SSGT] - I can.
[BO] - Thanks. - RO send the ammo to alpha beacon!
No answer.
[BO] - RO could you send the ammo to alpha beacon?
No answer.
[BO] - RO, please.
[RO] - Sorry, I was busy. What do you want?
[BO] - Send ammo to alpha beacon please.
[RO] - I put it on the pod already.
[marine] - Where is the ammo? Command is shit.
BO goes to cryo...
And this is the easy stuff. You just ask questions and do what marines want. I haven't figured out yet how to give orders that they may not like.

As a BO, choose which squad you're willing to sacrifice, that squad would be one of them.

Logistics is for scrubs. Don't get hugged and you won't need helmets, don't miss shots and you won't need ammo. Marines just gotta git gud, so the RO can order that holy collectible hat crate.

so hol' up, you're implying command will suddenly start excelling at their job and not just not give a fuck about anything but the collectible dress lockers in cargo?

You should post this on suggestions, i mean, its not really implimenting anything, but still. Logistics is important and it helps build a better RP experience instead of a ton of fuck heads with guns running around and getting picked of one by one and FOB is wiped out by 2-3 runners.

I've seen this happen like, twice. Each time it made me *autistic screeching* IRL.Eenkogneeto wrote:You know whats fun? When the RO drops a supply package as you're skulking around as a young runner, So you push it into the hive and get it melted. He'll never know what happened to it.
