Helmets to match officer armor

Post by Renomaki » 05 Nov 2016, 00:00

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): As of current, officer armor is tan in color, but their helmets are still green, resulting in a rather ugly clash of colors that makes it unappealing to look at. If an officer has to don armor, they should do it with style, and thus they require matching helmets to go with their armor.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It is a minor benefit, but it'll make officer armor "Officer" armor, looking the part for once rather than seeming cobbled together, and thus appear more appealing as a whole for us officers who like to lead with style.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): There is nothing really to it other than replacing the current helmets in the officer lockers with recolored tan helmets instead of green ones, ensuring there are enough helmets for every suit of officer armor.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Just some minor sprite work, renaming and description editing, and KABLAMO, you got officer helmets.

I never intended the officer armor to be worn with a helmet. Hence why it doesn't have one.

Why wouldn't it be worn with a helmet? If an officer is in a situation where they have to wear heavy armor, wouldn't head protection be a must, especially for such an important individual? Are they supposed to show off their hair as they take the field beside their troops?
I play as this guy, proudly being dismembered by extraterrestrials since 2015.
Sometimes I might play other guys, you never know.

It's not meant for the field. It's meant for defense of the bridge.

It's more as something to protect against accidental friendly fire than something you use for front line combat.

Still, it would be nice, if only for fashion's sake.

Most people who don the armor don a helmet, since fighting boarders without a helmet is invitation to get your head blown off. Every time I was an officer (such as BO, XO, or CO) and I had to put on my armor, I always felt irked by how badly the helmet stood out while wearing my armor.

Also, you forget about the XO, who sometimes DOES go onto the field to lead troops (if permitted). I doubt the XO is going to be going down in commoner's armor, for he needs to stand out among the men to show his importance.

Joshuu's decision on this one, since he does the armor sprites. Locking.
