Vacuum Cleaner

Post by Crab_Spider » 13 Nov 2016, 15:20

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Create a new item called a "vacuum cleaner" that's naturally available to Maintenance and obtainable with the use of a hacked autolathe.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Entire hallways will be cleared of semen, cigarette butts, finished packages of food, papers, and bullet casings with only 2 minutes of work. Lag might be reduced as a result of less stress on the server's memory. Picking up items will be quick and easy.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): All you'd have to do is hold the vacuum cleaner in hand click on an item that's a maximum of small size, and it'll be transferred to the vacuum's container. If the user wishes to pull out an item from the vacuum bag they can click "Activate Held Object" or click the vacuum itself, bringing up a list of items they wish to remove from the container and will do so when selected. If the user wants to empty the vacuum container, all they have to do is walk up to a disposal bin and click it with the use of mechanics.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Code and icons.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Alternatively, just make the garbage bag work like that.

Why not make it automatic like a mop or other tool?

This is exactly how the Garbage Bag works..., with the exception that: You can set the garbage bag to individual items, or the entire squad

Well can we make garbage bags obtainable through auto lathes at least, oh Great Apop???

There is always one bag in the janitor closet at briefing.

If you care about being clean, you should fetch it after setting up the engine and slap it to your belt (or attach to the cart if you are planning to do some serious mopping later)

Don't think this is really needed.

I would disagree and say that it would be a useful addition. At least let the devs see it so they can make a final call.

Leaving it for final review then, if you are so insistent.

I can see how this could be useful, but you also have trashbags. I'd personally rather not add a vacuum cleaner just because marines throw things everywhere and don't clean up.

I usually try to get a trash bag whenever I can as MP but since the MTs might need it for their jobs and there's only one of them, I often times throw the idea away. Anyway, Marines won't exactly be using it, it's more for crew like medical staff, the Bridge team, or the MPs when they feel something should be done.
