Metarush Fogwall
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Meta-rushing is a big problem for both sides. The marines cause mass xeno casualties up until the caves and then are screeched and nested en mass to the xenos advantage which usually is the nail in the coffin for the marines. I propose the river, along with portions of the jungle be filled with dense fog-walls that slow players down similar to sticky resin.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Less need for Blue-space artillery and snakes and Admin interference.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): We already have fog-walls used on Nightmare on LV-624, make it passable with the speed much like the sticky resin or jungle vines in base SS13. This coupled with not being able to see through it would make is almost suicidal for marines to push up early on. It could be deactivated after an hour into the game marked with a IC MOTHER message. Or it could also just be a new addition to the map that remains throughout the entirety of the round...

A thick fog sounds like an interesting idea. It would not only slow down marines passing, but also block their line of sight, meaning they can't use the excuse of "I saw a xeno fort across the river" as an excuse anymore.
Compared to a lot of metarush ideas, this is the best one so far.

+1 as a temporary fix for metarushing. This seems easy to implement, simple to understand, and effective- but I also maintain my support of the alternate suggestion of a 'chemical spill/water treatment plant' being added, as that solves the issue of metarushing as well as giving engineers additional objectives to make them feel like a more essential part of the corps besides just sitting in Nexus after repairing power, as well as being a solution that allows the xenos to continue to navigate it unharmed while preventing marine rushes only.

+1. I agree, a good temporary fix. Marines haven't been able to help themselves lately, and it's getting to the point where they're practically getting bluespaced because they're so INSISTENT on getting across the river early. I'd take fogwall or water treatment plant, really. The water treatment plant does sound interesting as an objective.

+1 Been yelling at marines for crossing the river, some listen some don't. Still I like the idea anywho I do hope with this fog, as predator this fog won't be a problem or will it perhaps require those who can see in the night and won't effect those who can see without light?

Might be neat to mix this with a kind of fog dispersal system. Basically just a button to start the fog timer once the power is set up similar to the floodlights.
The river fog could start as impassable and it'd be pretty spoopy to have a light fog in some of the deeper parts of the jungle too. Once the dispersal system has been on for say 10 minutes, the light fog in the jungle would dissipate, and the dense fog on the river would turn to light fog. 10 minutes more and it would completely clear.
If the power fails then the river and jungle could regain their light fog.
It'd add some pretty cool atmosphere I reckon.

personally I dont think its needed anymore. and this would kill a good few survivors. personaly if marines see walls at the river, they should be allowed to find out what they are and if the magic xenos are there that have been attacking people its a oh shit look at that cowinkdink now we wait 30 mins because we got attacked at hydro and the dickbag who attacked us lured us there.

ehh, i guess its a +0/+1. Its a good idea, it doesnt outright stop people, and it adds atmosphere(literal). I think some objectives in place to reduce rushing would also be good additions. Removing the Fog wall seems iffy at best and needs work.

Eh i gotta say -1. I dont like purposefully stopping either side. Meta rushing is bad mkay but what if a survivor had the necessary IC information and told the marines upon landing? They would have to wait an hour for a assault to begin while the Ayys sit and evolve.

I dont want to support the suggestion, but this actually doesnt hinder the marines physically, only cuts down the vision and speed. so it doesnt stop anyone from doing anything, just makes it harder.RedsPro wrote:Eh i gotta say -1. I think adding some Friday the 13th style fog on the river is a great idea as it is much more immersive than admins yelling "I will blow you fuckers up if you keep crossing that river" paraphrasing of course.
