Which Admin Protocols (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=5647) were broken: a mentor creating a rule up from nowhere, to stop dealing with a complaint I made on someone breaking the Roleplay guidelines

Description of the incident: I reported a player, we conversed on why it was not a IC issue in accordance to the breakage of rule 0.3, He said call the MP's as it is a IC issue, (the dude was yelling REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ect in cargo) I said I am a ghost, reacted to me trying to help the admins ect by reporting people, then said if it does not affect you then do not bother.

How you would punish the accused: With my trivial amount of admin'ning I have done for other servers, probably a warning/last chance on just creating rules up on the spot. If noted before doing it, revoking mentor ship, don't allow him to do it again if the matter was more serious, and I do not know why he reacted as if he was a admin/mod when he was a mentor, and it was a A-help on the breaking of a rule. But, again, I have little experience in the matter, so I bow to the wisdom of the higher beings.

What... rule did he make up? I'm a little lost here. The person wasn't outright breaking immersion, just being stupid. While that should've been responded to by a moderator, the end point is he's not wrong. Marine stupidity is marine stupidity. We do however appreciate you reporting the issue to staff, and don't discourage you from tipping us off to potential rulebreaks in the future.

He broke rule 0.1 I think, or at least he made up a rule on the spot. Saying if you are not involved, to not report it. Even if he didn't break a rule, he gave a fake rule that he admitted to giving, a wrong rule if you perceive it that way. Not mentor behavior

I think what he was trying to tell you is that it's not an OOC issue and more of an IC issue to be dealt with.
We're trying to cut down on dealing with players for shitty IC behavior.


So I believe his point was more that it's an IC issue and you aren't being effected by any of his IC issues so theres no reason to report it.
But was there any MODs online at the time?

If this was a roleplay break then it should have been handled by one of the active moderators at the time. The thing is, just shouting REEEEE isn't horrifyingly immersion breaking. It's just dumb. Like Feweh said, we are trying to cut down on staff intervention because we want the players to have more control over how they play the game without breaking the game. Furthermore, staff have the right to interpret the rules as they are intended, and I see nowhere in your evidence logs where Rip is making up a rule.

Essentially, you're both wrong. Rip should have given this to a mod instead of handling it as a mentor, and you shouldn't have made such a big deal out of being told something so trivial was a non-issue. That's my opinion on the matter anway

It sounded like a very basic question to reply to that wouldn't have required a moderator, not that I even knew they were any there. I had checked earlier and thought that only I and the Dev were present and he wasn't really "there" anyways. I guess I'll just stick to, "How is gun work?" type stuff and leave any and all rule ahelps to you guys. Sorry for any inconveniences caused by my actions.

The problem is not the REEE thing in the first place, he dealt with that, the thing is that he made up a rule, I said that is not a rule, and he said make a report if you where unhappy, and since he just made up a rule on the spot, that is the problem.

You haven't provided us with any information of what rule he made up. You just keep saying he made up a rule, and the logs you posted show nothing about it. Could you please inform us of the rule that Rip made up?

The rule I "Made up" was this; If you aren't effected by it, by it I meant the REEEEEE, don't bother ahelping it, as it is an IC issue and he isn't In Character.

Alright then, he created a rule on the spot, and then when I asked where it was on the rule page, he said nowhere, I said it isn't a rule, then he told me to make a complaint if I was un-happy.

I don't think this is going anywhere. The only fault I committed was answering your Ahelp in the first place and you can't seem to tell them how I made up a rule.
