Why do you wish to become a developer? I played CM through my later years in high school and got inspired to begin contributing it, slowly, but surely getting better over time. Seeing the state CM development was in during techwebs (MR hell era), inspired me yet again, this time to become a dev. However, I still lacked the skill then and put it off.
Even though the state of CM's development has well recovered since then, I have not lost this ambition. I now feel that I am a decently competent SS-13 coder and wish to contribute to CM on a much larger scale as I can not only get bigger and cooler PRs in but help others get their cool PRs in as well.
