CM SS13 From Scratch (doing CM SS13 differently)
I came across a YouTube channel called America From Scratch, they ask questions like What if we made "America From Scratch" today rather than 250 years ago?
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClS...2h1W7eAGaa7cUw
It got me thinking, what if we make CM SS13 From Scratch now, what would we like to see? Basically some wild wishes that we would like to see outside the binding/mindset of the current iteration.
Some ideas came to mind are:
What if marines are no longer have seperate prep rooms? (consider finding the correct prep room the greatest trial to new players)
Shotgun shell box reloading, makes you want to tear your hair out
Alpha's radio prefix to :a
Remove the roundstart long queue at RO (thanks devs for kits and points)
XO/department heads/queen locked behind 1 hour SO/that department/xeno playtime
Xenos getting stronger not by living longer/incentives to not turtle
Marines incentives to gain zone of control (thanks devs for IO and defcon)
-
Allowing dropships to drop their bombs like OBs
-
Staff and dev processes being transparent.

Notes not lasting for years with no removal and being held against you like they were yesterday. Could you imagine?

- Keep atmos as both a hazard for specific maps and to make the Almayer siege harder for marines (as a stray rocket might blow a hole in the hull)
- Make marines unable to carry more than one primary gun and limit their ammo to their belts, but make the rifles and SMG fire faster and the shotgun do more damage
- Make flamers a close combat weapon instead of making tiles unacessible (the user can keep a flame going in front of them which burns xenos ahead and blocks pounces and shit
- Special xeno castes for each map
- Remove specialists; SADARs, BRs and other powerful guns would be unlocked by DEFCON, but in small numbers
- Make metal unable to be carried by engies, but add more defensive structures for the FOB. Sandbags act as the main frontline cover
- Limit normal evolution to T2; every T1 can go T2, T3s require a larva to be put in an evolutionary chamber for a while, and because of their scarcity, are stronger
- Replace tank with an APC

Lets say all the games files and backups were mysteriously deleted (even the leaked files) and the devs decided to make everything from scratch but as quickly as possible. So you want to get the most bang for your buck as far as the work you do put in goes.
-All maps rebuilt with current pop and future proofing concepts (vehicles, more than 2 LZs) in mind
-An entirely new damage system that works in a very simple and predictable manner, so it's easy to modify and add to
-Cutting out stuff that doesn't need to exist, like rad damage
-Rework medical from the ground up, get rid of drugs that don't server a purpose (why have dexalin when everyone uses dex+ anyway?)
Just rework things where previously it would of been too much effort to change them, but if you're going to make them from scratch you may as well make them better. I'm thinking less of stuff to add and more stuff where if you were going to redo it what should you do differently?

- All hairstyles and beard styles from ss13 are added.
- More armor styles added
- Visible damage to armor, helmet and weapons.
- brute damage signs on the sprites are permanent (bleeding nose, mouth, face etc)
- More custom loadouts including tattoos on every part of the body.
- robot limbs are available again in the character menu (theyre worse than real limbs)
- XENOS ARE ABLE TO CHOOSE A 4 letter name under certain rules and restrictions.
- Xenos change color intensity (Darker, lighter) depending on their age.
- Visible and permanent battle scars on xenos (bleeding wounds, missing limbs, cuts etc).
- Xenos can loose limbs the same way humans do (intense brute damage to the area) limbs can be restored with special nests drones, hiverlords, queens and praetorians can do.
